Alfredo Martínez; Ph.D.
Dr. Martínez, is currently Co-director for the Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Navarra in Spain. He also serves as of the Director of the European Master in Metabolism and Nutrition (E-MENU), and as Associate Scientific Director at Soria Center of the National Institute for Agricultural Research. Earlier, he served as Head of the Department of Physiology and Nutrition at the University of Navarra. Dr. Martínez, research interests involve Nutritional and Hormonal control of growth and metabolism; Nutritional utilization of functional foods; Evaluation of nutritional status in different populations; Interactions between Nutrition and immunity; Consumer and nutritionally-oriented epidemiological surveys. He has acted as external reviewer for Research National Agencies in Spain, Colombia, Switzerland, USA and Israel. Dr. Martinez is or has been a Member of the Editorial Board for several journals such as the Nutritional Neurosciences, Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism, Nutrition, Revista Española de Obesidad and J Physiology and Biochemistry, European Journal of Nutrition, and the Mediterranean Journals of Nutrition and Metabolism and Current Food and Nutrition. He has been recently appointed as associated editor for Nutritional Neurosciences. He has had numerous publications with ISBN's. Dr. Martinez holds Ph.D. and B.Sc. degrees in Nutrition and Pharmacy respectively from the University of Navarra in Spain, and a Diploma in CAP Education from the University of Zaragoza in Spain.
