Ram Menon; M.D., MBBS, MRCP
Dr. Ram Menon is currently a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Michigan. He is also the Director of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Michigan's CS Mott Children's Hospital. Dr. Menon’s research interests are to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in regulation of the growth hormone receptor / Insulin- like growth factor-1 axis and the role this axis plays in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndromes such as obesity and chronic complications of diabetes mellitus. His research efforts are funded by the NIH and other federal government agencies. He has authored over 75 peer reviewed publications and has served on several grant review boards including those of NIH, JDRF, ADA, Welcome Trust, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Dr. Menon serves as the Editor-in-Chief for Reviews in Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, Associate Editor for Pediatric Diabetes, and is member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Indian Journal of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society, Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society, Society for Pediatric Research, and American Pediatric Society. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and licensed to practice in the Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Dr. Menon holds a medical degree from the University of Delhi and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. He pursued postgraduate fellowship training in pediatric endocrinology at the Royal Free Hospital, London, United Kingdom and the Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.
