Matthew A Sabin; M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Sabin is a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Royal Children's Hospital, and postdoctoral researcher at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, in Melbourne, Australia. His clinical tertiary paediatric obesity practice is one of the largest in Australia and is highly successful in achieving weight management in the majority of patients. Findings from his clinical and laboratory research, focussed on investigating the links between childhood obesity and associated diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, have been presented at international scientific conferences and published in international scientific journals. Dr. Sabin holds an Adjunct Senior Lecturer appointment in the Department of Physiology at Monash University, an Honorary Lecturer post at the University of Melbourne and he is Deputy Director of the University of Melbourne Obesity Consortium. In the near future Dr. Sabin will become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He trained and holds a M.D. degree from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in London (UK), has membership of the UK Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and was awarded his Ph.D. (funded through a prestigious Diabetes UK Clinical Training Fellowship award) investigating the links between Childhood Obesity and Type 2 diabetes, before moving to Australia.
